Sons of Anarchy

There’s been momentum building behind this show for a while. I overheard a couple of friends raving about it in the pub on Christmas Eve ’09 and though it sounded intriguing, it was only upon seeing a poster for the ‘forthcoming’ 2nd season on a Tube platform that i decided to take the plunge and get involved.

I think the thing that tipped me over the edge was realising that one of the lead characters (Clay Morrow) is portrayed by the one and only Ron Pearlman (Hellboy, Blade 2, Alien Resurrection).  Ron is one of these niche actors that’s been appropriately typecast as the mature and weatherbeaten tough-guy, yet never before has that typcast been more fitting, or better executed than when Pearlman dons his ‘cut’ and becomes Mr. Clay Morrow.

Sons of Anarchy throws you in to the world of SAMCRO (Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club Redwood Original), a group of Mechanics and  Bike Enthusiast who make their money primarily as Arms Dealers. The overarching storylines and characters can often be a little predictable, but you wont care because you’ll be too caught up in the comraderie and code of honour that these bad-asses live by! If i were forced to describe the show in ‘a nutshell’ i’d have to say it’s Soprano’s with Bikers – and although that’s extremely lazy, this show really fills the void that’s been missing in my life ever since Soprano’s ended a couple of years back.

Everyone that’s seen it loves it.  One friend bestowed the rather apt description of ‘Visual Crack’, and i’m forced to agree as I was hooked from the first hit.

I highly recomend you take a peek.

At the time of writing US TV has broadcast two full seasons of Sons of Anarchy and is awaiting the third which starts in September ’10.
