While i was at university (6-9 years ago!) I stumbled across a beautiful little flash game.
It took place on a stunningly composited organic alien world and put you in control of a cute little creature. You had to click around the environment, eagerly looking for interactive objects. Once you knew what they did, clicking them in the correct sequence would get your little man through the world safely.
Although not the most cerebral challenge, the games visuals and ambient audio created a deep sense of wonder, and an atmosphere i’ve yet to see met in any other flash game.
That game was Samorost.
I’d long since forgotten the game as I could never remember the title, but I stumbled across its creators once more when i discovered Machinarium in the Humble Indie Bundle. Within seconds of loading the title screen I was overcome with that familliar sense of wonder once more.
Beautiful. Play it now.
