I’ve been digging around in my old Flash folder and stumbled across a few old unfinished projects i thought it was worth sharing.
This is a little shooting game I was working on shortly after I graduated (2005). I’d worked on a couple of Arcade style on-rails shooters before, but I wanted to put what I’d learnt to good use and create something a little more polished.
Konami’s Lethal Enforcers was one of my favourite arcade games and I was obviously trying to make something similar.
The first scene based in a multi-story parking garage used mostly vector graphics and parallax scrolling to give the illusion of depth and motion in the scene. It loops round indefinitely and has a selection of weapons that can be picked up. You can reload using the space bar and cycle through the weapons using the 1, 2 and 3 number keys for pistol, shotgun and machine gun respectively.

In this ‘car chase’ scene I used a motion blur effect on some bitmaps to give the illusion of faster movement. You can shoot the driver, but the car keeps going. There are an infinite amount of goons in the car!

The point is, I put hours of work into this and i thought it was a shame that no-one ever really saw it, so here it is in all it’s unfinished glory.
Enjoy.
